jessica + nate, a spring, southern wedding

Hello! It’s Windy and this is my first official blog post with LK, so hooray!

After planning and directing weddings for almost 10 years, you learn a lot about, well, people. It’s one of my favorite aspects of the job. Don’t get me wrong, I love my sparkly linen, delicious stationery and clever favors, but the couple, the families and the friends of these great couples are why I love being a wedding planner.View More: http://httpkristinpartincom.pass.us/jessica--nate-wedding

My first wedding with LK–my first wedding “back” in the wedding world–was Jessica and Nathan, an adorable North Carolina couple who’s April wedding was packed full of southern charm. They could not have been a more gracious and sweet pair. Jessica’s “thank you’s” were served warm with a sweet tang of her Southern accent and she was just so excited to work with LK!

During our final walk through of the venue, Jessica mentioned having friends and family in town during the wedding weekend ready to help at the drop of a hat. This is a pretty typical conversation with couples, so I thought nothing of these helpers–boy was I wrong! I’m a firm believer that weddings bring out the best and worst in people. In Jessica and Nate’s case she had the good stuff. Good people. Good feelings. Great support.

Upon arrival at her venue, I was met with a caravan of vehicles. The Calvary had arrived, as we joked that day. I have never seen so much welcomed support for a particular couple. Boxes upon boxes were unloaded in just minutes. Not only did they unload their cars, but they jumped into mine as well. I was met with endless “What can we help you with next?” That is sweet, Southern charm right there. You can get a good sense of the couple when you get to experience the people they surround themselves with and call friends. These people were good people.

As always, the wedding ran so smoothly, the food was perfectly delicious and Southern, of course, and the dance floor was packed all night. You can see the details below in all the lovely eye candy from Kristin Partin Photography.

a Carillon wedding: lindsay + phil

I told myself that after writing all of my pre-planning blogs and giving insight into what my big day would be like, that I would not fumble and I would follow up with a wedding post. As many of you know, that day hasn’t come. But darn it, I just did make your day today, now didn’t I? Our photographers post was so amazing, that I just sent her link to all of our friends and family and left most of you in the dark. Oops!

To catch you up, I wrote a series on my former blog, Dulcet and Dapper, about how I planned and designed my own wedding. Feel free to catch up by reading: our engagement story, choosing the venue, designing the save the dates, registering, giving our guests the Richmond experience and showing them true southern hospitality, menu planning, the dress, crafting and not crafting, and the final count down!

Creating this blog post has made me a sappy mess. I spent hours reminiscing like it was yesterday when I was supposed to be uploading photos or writing text. I have pretty much left no aspect of our wedding day unturned here, so please forgive (or enjoy!) the massive amounts of photos. I’m going to let our incredible images speak for themselves. Just know I went from bawling my eyes out to a dance-off with my sister and mom in a matter of minutes.

9BLOG POST32wedding wedding wedding wedding wedding wedding weddingThese two people are some of the most incredible human beings on the planet. We are so lucky to call them friends. They perfectly captured our day.              wedding9BLOG POST30 wedding9BLOG POST16wedding Lindsay and Phil in Richmond, Va. on February 23, 2013.

I look back on February 23, 2013 and smile so, so wide. I remember the funniest things from the day. Like my 18-week pregnant sister who while driving my mother and I to the Carillon while I was holding back my first tears of the day, she screamed “I need a beer!”. Or looking over at my 80-year-old grandfather stuffing his face with our “after-tizers” of cheeseburgers and chips. I’m so glad these memories have stuck with me! We are so lucky to have shared these memories with people we truly love. Thank you for following us on this journey! Married life is the best.

pop the bubbly, a blog is born!

Pop the bubbly, get down and do the worm, shout ’til your hearts content or just simply clink glasses with us! We are launching a new blog–the two of us. Say what?! That’s right the two of us. Let me rewind and catch you up.

In January of 2014, I joined forces with the incomparable Windy Jennings, formerly of Weddings by Windy here in Richmond. Our friends over at Don Mears Photography so effortlessly coined us “Windsay.” Irresistibly cute. While the official company name is still LK Events and Design, same brand and all, “Windsay” just has a certain ring to it, don’t you think? We just couldn’t let it go. In a nutshell, here is our history:

Lindsay started a business.

Windy had a business.

Windy dissolved said business.

Windy and Lindsay remained good friends.

Lindsay went on the silent hunt for a planner to help expand LK.

Windy was secretly wishing to get back in the business.

Windy approached Lindsay with an idea. Lindsay loved the idea.

Windsay was born.

Since Windy and I joined forces under one roof, a ton has happened! We launched a new website, hosted a party, was featured in a local magazine and now we’re starting a fresh, new blog!

lkscreenshotWe hope you’ll take the time to peruse our new website and galleries and learn more about us! If you’re coming from my old blog, Dulcet and Dapper, welcome! After almost two years, it’s about time for a fresh new blog with new content. don’t you think? Both Windy and I will post here about once a week to feature fun things we’ve done, beautiful things we’ve found and what we hope will be really helpful information to guide you through the planning process. Consider us open books!

Raise your glass, y’all, because we are celebrating over here!
